Weed Gummies Cookbook: Infusion and Candy Equipment

Weed Gummies Cookbook: Infusion and Candy Equipment

Create gummies and candies that are better than dispensary-bought treats!

Homemade edibles are cost-effective, discreet, and delicious. The Weed Gummies Cookbook is the go-to resource for the cannabis curious of all levels and offers approachable ways to incorporate a variety of cannabinoids into your routine. With step-by-step instructions and color photos, you'll also get tips for safely handling and labeling your confections.

To prepare you for your candy-making adventure, below are cannabis infusion and candy-making equipment that I’ve used for the book. Please note that this post contains affiliate links.

Cannabis Infusion Equipment

The Weed Gummies Cookbook has infusion recipes for both the stove-top and the sous vide method. The tools in this section are great for those who need to make their infusions discreetly, without any wafting smell of cannabis. If you are fine with using the stove-top, skip ahead!

The Joule is the smallest, sleekest sous vide tool available at just 11 inches tall and 1.3 pounds, with streamlined white body and solid stainless steel cap & base.

Made In’s 8-qt or 12-qt stock pot is perfect for all your sous vide needs.

You’ll also need a digital kitchen scale when working with flower and trim.

The Ardent FX Decarboxylator activates 100% of THC or CBD in your flower at the touch of a button. Much like the sous vide method, it's odorless and mess-free. But with the new FX, you can also infuse oils and bake as well.

A chamber vacuum sealer is not required but definitely a nice-to-have. For home-use, the Avid Armor Ultra Series USV20 Chamber Vacuum Sealer System is the compact and excels at effectively vacuum sealing any liquid or liquid rich food, like your Sous Weed infusions!

Candy-making Equipment

I meant it when I said The Weed Gummies Cookbook is made for home cooks of all levels! There are easy recipes and then there are some that require extreme precision. Remember, controlling sugar is a science! Having the proper tools, understanding safety precautions, as well as reading the entire recipe before starting will help you immensely.

For both the large and medium-sized saucepans, I use AVACRAFT’s Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Saucepans with Glass Strainer Lid. It’s heavy enough for candy-making and the pour spout is a lifesaver.

I know, I know–this one is bougie. This Mauviel Copper Double Boiler was a gift from my colleagues a decade ago and it is very well loved. It’s perfect for the chocolate-dipped recipes in the book. Of course, any ol’ double boiler or bain-marie will do.

A candy thermometer is absolutely crucial for candy-making. You’ll need this for the Soft Caramels & Nougats and the Hard & Brittle chapters.

This set silicone mold set is perfect for making cannabis-infused gummies. I like that candy droppers were also included.

This OXO set is what I use in my home kitchen but I have so much love for the silicone spatula in the center. It has survived vigorous cookbook testing, sticky nougat, and molten sugar. It is excellent.

For my small saucepan, I have this 1-quart cutie from Cuisinart. It’s perfect for the gummies recipes and cleans up quick.

I designed many of my recipes around this 8-inch baking pan, especially in the Soft Caramels & Nougats chapter. I like that the bottom pops out for easy removal.

You’ll be working with a lot of liquids with this cookbook so good measuring cups with spouts will be your best friend. I love my set from Pyrex.

These little semi-sphere molds were used for gummies as well as the hard candies in the Hard & Brittle chapter.

Have you ever accidentally touched molten sugar? It sucks and it’ll take your skin off. Heat-resistant gloves are important in the Soft Caramels & Nougats and Hard & Brittle chapters in the book. Protect those precious fingers!

Packaging & Child-Proofing

Cannabis-infused confections may look tempting but they need to be kept out of the reach of children. I highly recommend purchasing child-resistant jars and creating big, colorful labels. If you have little ones at home, please store your homemade goods in a locked location or high on a shelf.

This child-proof jar fits up to 14g with UV-resistant, frosted glass.

This may seem a little excessive but if you can never be too safe when you’ve got little ones running around. If you’re a parent or even if you have a sneaky roommate, get yourself a locked medicine box.
